Chessboard Packaging
Designed a custom reveal box for a one-of-a-kind chess board created to honor the Lab's departing director. This project blended packaging design, fabrication coordination, and cross-team collaboration into a single cohesive presentation piece.
The scope went beyond the box itself: I designed and selected materials for a custom name plate to be adhered to the chess board, along with fitted tray liners for the interior drawer where individual chess pieces are stored and protected. To round out the presentation, I designed an accompanying pamphlet crediting the full team who helped bring the board to life, adding a personal, commemorative touch to the final piece.
Throughout the process, I created Photoshop mockups of each design element for client approval, iterating on layout, materials, and finishing details before moving into production. This was a true multi-team effort collaborating closely with a 3D printing team to fabricate each individual chess piece, engraving the plaque, and coordinating across design and production to ensure every component, from box to board to packaging, came together as a unified, polished final product.
